Blogging is for communication. Here’s how it works.
The Technology Coaches (more information coming soon) in our District created a blog to be able to communicate efficiently and quickly. Thanks to a comment on this blog I now know about another teacher in our district who is using a blog for a class web site and I can share it with you: Janet Rose from Palo Verde. Have a look, it looks splendid.
Oh, I should not forget about Joe in our school. He has a blog for b4 too.
Maybe now you are more inclined to use a blog yourself.
If you want to start your class blog/website right away here is “how to” from Lidia, a parent who actually runs the blog for Janet Rose.
If you want to wait a bit Joe will be talking about web sites/blogs this Thursday after school.
Thanks for the kind words about Janet’s site – it’s a work in progress…
Blogging software – esepecially WordPress – is fantastic for educators because it usually requires so little technical knowledge that teachers (or designated room parents) can do the maintenance without having to find a developer to continually update a site.
WordPress allows you to make your front page static, so it can even behave as a Web site (lots of people still cannot get over the word blog) – but I’m starting to call them mini- sites – because they are!
Barbara – when we were putting together the Palo Verde Web site – I came across your list of resources and thought – WOW – what a fantastic effort! You’ll need to bring them over to the blogosphere so we can all enjoy them
If you need help or support with WordPress – please contact me – I’m just up the road!
